Welcome to Yummbakes!

Hi!

I’m Pam and this is Yummbakes! It’s all about cakes, cookies, desserts, and everything in between.  I’ve always been drawn to beautiful and fancy desserts and used to wonder how it’s been made.  Even the simplest cakes and cookies were such a mystery to me on what goes into it and how much time and effort went into it before they’re displayed in bakeshops and cafes. Here, you’ll also find some of the special cakes and cupcakes I do on the side .

When I was growing up in the Philippines, having a home oven was a luxury so baking was not even in my thoughts. Special occasions call for buying cakes at bakeshop chains and never homemade. It was only when we lived in the US that I was introduced to baking. I was fascinated with the array of ready-made cake and dessert mixes that line the baking aisle in the supermarket. For the first time, I was able to bake something in an oven and that encouraged me to learn more. I started buying a few pans and baking equipments and from the cake mixes i progressed to trying simple recipes until my husband encouraged me to enroll in the culinary arts program of a community college nearby. Then, everything changed! From then on, I promised myself never to buy cake mixes ever again!  And now, 10 years later, I still keep that promise. Besides, I realized that baking from scratch is way way better than the boxed stuff and you can quote me on that.

Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Keep on baking!

Pam
